Waraq means paper in arabic. Waraq is a website store where people can find greeting cards and wrapping paper for all celebrations, but most greeting cards will be in Arabic. Waraq will also design ready or customized journals.

Greeting Cards
- Ramadhan Greeting
- Eid
- Mother’s day
- valentines
- Birthdays
- new borns
- Research :
To have a succefful greeting card store i should follow those steps:
Step 1: I should visit a couple of greeting cards store and see their collection and ask myself those questions:
- How can i make it different?
- What is missing ?
- How can i make better greeting cards?
Step 2: Brainstorm unique greeting card ideas:
- What kind of greeting cards will i design ?
- What type of messages will i use ?
- complex or simple designs? or both ?
Step 3: I should decide on what materials i will use :
- Different kind of papers
- paper cutter
- Computer programs : illustrator, indesign, photoshop.
- Scanner
Step 4: I should have a space where i can work freely and spike my creativity without any distractions.
Step 5: I should create a website store for people to buy my greeting cards.
Calligraphy:
In Waraq greeting cards i will use different kind of Calligraphy:
- Kuffic:
- kufiic is the oldest calligraphic form of the various arabic script.
- Kuffic developed around the end of the 7th century.
- You can use Kuffic script as a square or rectangle.
- Thulth:
- It was invented by the persian calligrapher (Ibn Muglah Shirazi) in the 11th century.
- Thulth mean ( a third )
- Thulth calligraphy was used a lot for the decoration in mosques.
- Diwani:
- It was invented by (Housam Roumi) in the 16th- early 17th century.
- It was used in the writing of all royal laws, foundations, and resolutions.
- It is beauty and harmony and is still used for ceremonies and wedding greeting cards.
- Has a high artistic value.
Patterns:
- Doodles: Doodles are random scribbles which can consist of swirls, shapes, designs, figures, or informal drawings.
- Abstract: existing in thought or as an idea but not having a physical or concrete existence.
- Islamic pattern: it’s a geometric designs that has evolved into beautiful and highly complex patterns.
- Design objective:
what is the proposition?
- My proposition is to design Arabic greeting cards that are simple and unique.
what is the over goal of the project ?
- The goal of the project is design one greeting card for each kind of celebration.
- To make my audience like and buy my greetings card
- A strong simple clean logo ( Using Kuffi Calligraphy)
- To design a clean and simple website.
- Design more patterns for the greeting cards.
- Design or write different arabic calligraphy styles.
- Promoting my designs. ( social media)
What are you trying to communicate and why ?
- To send a massage that the Arabic language is important, and that we should use it more than english. ( since arabic is our first language)
Why?
- Because in Kuwait you cant find greeting cards that are in arabic, everyone buys greetings in english. People are forgetting how the arabic language is powerful, and it sadness me that we communicate in arabic but we use english letters instead of arabic. You can do so much with Arabic letters: patterns, calligraphy in different styles, etc. YOU CAN SIMPLY MAKE ART!
