Brief & Concept Solution (Treasuring Memories)

Treasuring Memories

In the early 21st century, we could only dream of owning mobile phones but nowadays we live in times when the mobile phones carry the most prominent of features. These include mind boggling applications, high resolution cameras and large enough memory to handle our desired wants and needs, not forgetting to mention the exceptional screen resolution that can go toe to toe with many expensive digital cameras. This advancement in mobile phone technology and their mobility and affordable status has made it possible for people to be able to document everyday life memories and occurrences by easily taking a snap using their smartphone cameras (Hagen 3). However, hear lies the huge conundrum. Has the digital photos led to complacency in backing up pictures? Do people treasure these memories anymore? Do they create albums? Sadly, many individuals do not.

My cousin has three kids and interestingly is in no possession of even one album of her children. Her most plausible defense being she does not have the time to develop the myriad digital photos she has. However, when confronted on where all those multiple photos were, she came close to having no clue, even admitting having lost half of them. My cousin stands only as an example to most of us, including you and me, on how we have become negligent on the habit of backing up photos.

Admittedly, I also had to cure myself of this epidemic of not backing up pictures quite recently. I had accumulated thousands of photos in my computer that made it quite hectic a process to organize them. Nonetheless, what I did was cease the folders I had for each year and create in them subfolders for each activity or relation as suggested by Hagen (10). I created subfolders for trips, family, friends and an extra one for insignificant photos. This enabled me to create, organize and back up an album of my pictures from year 2006 till 2014. This included all my treasured memories I had captured in the whole eight year period.
