Sustainable Design (task 8)

Sustainable design is the philosophy of designing physical objects, the built environment, and services to comply with the principles of social, economic, and ecological sustainability.

Sustainable Design Architecture :"Green architecture, or green design, is an approach to building that minimizes harmful effects on human health and the environment. The "green" architect or designer attempts to safeguard air, water, and earth by choosing eco-friendly building materials and construction practices."

Green architecture may have many of these characteristics:

• Ventilation systems designed for efficient heating and cooling
• Energy-efficient lighting and appliances
• Water-saving plumbing fixtures
• Landscapes planned to maximize passive solar energy
• Minimal harm to the natural habitat
• Alternate power sources such as solar power or wind power
• Non-synthetic, non-toxic materials
• Locally-obtained woods and stone
• Responsibly-harvested woods
• Adaptive reuse of older buildings
• Use of recycled architectural salvage
• Efficient use of space

Sustainable Fashion Design:

Sustainable fashion, also called eco fashion, is a part of the growing design philosophy and trend of sustainability, the goal of which is to create a system which can be supported indefinitely in terms of environmentalism and social responsibility.

My opinions on sustainable design are:

 As a Graphic/ Communication designer is 

• use solar powers instead of electricity 
• Help my clients with choosing sustainable choices for his/her design
• Recycle 

What can you do? Is this your finest hour?

i can let my people back home know about sustainability , i can teach them and spread the word. 

Do you consider sustainability when designing? and how?

To be honest i never considered sustainability when i am designing until now.  I never knew that our world is in danger due to the lack of education in my country. Now that i know what sustainability means i will always consider it to be part of my design.

What do you understand by the term Design Thinking and how does it apply to you as a designer?

What i understood about design thinking is you need to fail and sometimes fail again. But you have to fail and get up quickly and believe me you will have the solution of the problem. I think it is ok to be lost not knowing what the problem is, with research and failure and that one push you will get there; that is the magic of a designer.
